Aam Aadmi Party is of the clear view that restoration of peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir must be given top priority by all concerned. In this context, party’s attention has been drawn to the controversy surrounding the legal and other challenges to Article 35 A mentioned in the Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmir order of 1954).

Since the state is currently under Governor’s rule, it is therefore the duty of the governor of J&K to ensure that the views of the people of the state are correctly and strongly represented before the Supreme Court of India in the case pertaining to the challenge on the constitutional validity of Article 35 A.

Nothing should be done to disturb the status quo at a time when the J&K Legislative Assembly is under suspension and it is for the governor to ensure that Article 35 A should not be tampered at all at this critical juncture.

Attempts to dilute or disturb Article 35 A will only lead to further deterioration in the already volatile situation in this sensitive state. AAP appeals to all sections of the society in J&K to maintain peace and harmony in the entire state and not to get provoked due to attempts by vested interests to disturb the delicate situation.
