Srinagar August 05, 2018 (KNO) : The unequivocal, united and unanimous verdict by the people of Chenab valley region, Pir-Panjal Region, Kashmir valley to Kargil against planned attack on the identity and distinctiveness of Jammu Kashmir in the garb of 35 A should serve as an eye opener for Indian rulers and policy makers. The protest staged by the people of whole Jammu Kashmir at JRL call is unprecedented.

This was stated by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in a joint press statement issued today. Terming the unity among the people of Jammu Kashmir on state subject law and unprecedented protest as heartening, leaders said that at JRL call people at Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Baderwah, Kishtwar, Kargil to Kashmir valley staged exemplary protest against Indian moves intended at abrogating or tinkering with the hereditary state subject law in the garb of 35 A .

He said that through this exemplary protest people of Jammu Kashmir have raised their voices against any move or act that is intended to wane, weaken, abrogate or tamper with the national identity and distinctiveness of Jammu Kashmir and have in unequivocal terms and with one voice announced their verdict that no resident of Jammu Kashmir will accept any such move or judgement.

JRL said that though police chief of Jammu Kashmir has announced to allow protests regarding 35A but from the evening of Saturday police and other forces started a fresh spree of nocturnal raids, arrests and other oppressive measures. Police as usual have kept ailing veteran leader Syed Ali shah Geelani under House arrest and have placed leader Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq under house arrest too.

Police last evening raided the residence of another JRL leader Muhammad Yasin Malik who already had gone into hiding to evade arrest. Moreover police have arrested or house arrested many other leaders and activists including Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ghluam Nabi Sumji, Agha Syed Hassan, Hilal Ahmad War, Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya), Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, Bilal Ahmad Sideequi, Hakim Abdul Rashid, Molvi Bashir Ahmad, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Muhammad Yasin Ataie, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Syed Imtiyaz Haider, Bashir Ahmad Butt, Muhammad Ashraf Laya, Muhammad Ishfaq Khan and others while as police raided many others houses too.

It is pertinent to mention that JRL has already said that any anti-Kashmiri verdict on 6th August 2018, will face a full-fledged people’s agitation in Jammu Kashmir and JRL leader Muhammad Yasin Malik in fact has gone into hiding keeping this in mind, so that people are provided with leadership on ground in such situation. While condemning the ongoing nocturnal raids, search operations, arrests, and house detentions, JRL leaders said that this police oppression has once again exposed the originality of the claims made by state police chief and proved the fact that this state is a police state where the law of Jungle is in place.

Leaders said that after DGP sahib’s statement of allowing protests on 35A issue, Hurriyat leader Umar Adil Dar became the first victim of this Jungle Raj who was arrested and slapped with PSA and sent to Kuthuwa Jail for delivering a letter from the leadership to bar members of Islamabad Court. JRL leaders said that Jammu Kashmir is a disputed territory and the people of this state have a unique identity, a rare distinctiveness and heritage and this uniqueness in fact guarantees our right of self-determination and therefore no Kashmiri can think of allowing any tinkering with this uniqueness which is also known as state subject law.

JRL said that Indian supreme court is set to hear 35 A case on 06th of August 2018 and we appeal to all inhabitants of Jammu Kashmir to make this day as an outstanding protest day too and if God forbid any anti-Kashmir judgement is delivered by the court, be ready for a full-fledged peoples agitation against that. While hailing the exemplary efforts of all trade bodies, chambers, employees unions, bankers, transporters, civil society, intellectuals, student unions, and people related to tourism sector and Kashmiri Diaspora, JRL said that the unity and resilience shown by each Kashmiri is unprecedented and needs to be preserved and maintained by us all.

While condemning the gruesome killing of innocent Syed Murad Ali Shah of Poonch at Bithendi Jammu, Muhammad Shafi Gujar at Gool Ramban and injuring Shakil Ahmad, JRL said that Indian trigger happy forces seem to have gone mad in their pursuit of human blood.

After shedding blood of humans in nooks and corners of Kashmir valley, these Killers have started brutalizing Muslims in Jammu region now which is highly horrible. JRL extended their condolences to the bereaved families of these innocent martyrs and also prayed for the early recovery of the injured. Meanwhile on JRL call, people in large numbers today gathered at Lal Chowk and offered Funeral prayers in absentia for the martyrs of Kupwara and Shupian.

Despite shutdown and barricades erected by Forces, people in large numbers along with JKLF leader Bashir Kashmiri attended the funeral prayers and paid rich tributes to innocent martyrs
