Advisor Ganai urges for proactive approach, self-reliance to develop strong society | KNO

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 09 (KNO) :  Urging people to be self-reliant, the Advisor to the Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai today called upon civil society to partner the Government in the implementation of various public welfare schemes. The Advisor (G) expressed these views while interacting with various public delegations here. The delegations included Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Owners, Civil Society Tral, All India National Awardee Teachers State Unit, J&K, parents of autistic children, OBCs delegation and others.

The Advisor said that the Government has envisaged a broad roadmap for the holistic development of the State. He said Government has initiated various State as well as Central sponsored schemes to develop the infrastructure in the State. However, the Government needs support from various stakeholders to make these schemes a success. Giving an example, the Advisor said the citizens of an ideal society would never think of encroaching on someone else’s property, and if someone does so, the responsible members act swiftly by informing the concerned officials and immediately put a stamp on the practice.

The Advisor said to increase the tourists’ footfall in the Valley a sustained campaign needs to be launched. He said it is important that all the stakeholders of tourism industry including major tourism associations including Kashmir Hotels and Restaurant Owners Federation (KHAROF) and Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Association (KHARA) regularly participate in travel marts and festivals organized across the country to promote the State tourism. He also reiterated the need for better marketing of the State tourism potential and also to project a positive image of the State. The delegation requested that positives of the State should equally be highlighted by the media. More than 40 delegations from various parts of the State called on the Advisor and apprised him with their issues and grievances.

After meeting a group of parents of autistic children, the Advisor immediately issued the direction to Commissioner Disabilities and Mission Director ICPS to explore the possibility of establishing autistic children home which will have all the required facilities for benefiting these children. The delegation from Chadoora, Gopalpura informed the Advisor about the scarcity of drinking water, regularization of residential land and to develop Alamdarbagh colony in Gopalpura, Chadoora, Budgam.

The Civil Society Tral delegation also raised various developmental issues including establishing of sub-office of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education in Tral. The OBCs delegation from Anantnag demanded a latest OBC survey, operationalisation of OBC Board, and to make OBC hostels functional at an earliest. Indian Telephone Industries Limited (Srinagar plant) delegation sought renewal of lease so that their industry could invest more in State. A deputation from Baramulla demanded de-silting of Singri nallah in Singri colony in the district, while as the delegation of Fruit and Vegetable Association from Ganderbal demanded establishing of fruit and vegetable mandi in Zazna, introduction of market intervention scheme, advertisement policy and crop insurance for farmers. The delegation of Public Administration Scholars demanded introduction of Public Administration as a subject at 10+2 levels in the State.

A delegation from block Gool, Dadam in Ramban requested for directing the concerned for upgradation of secondary school to higher secondary. SK Colony Anantnag delegation requested the Advisor to issue instructions to the concerned for the macadamization of two kms of SK Colony road in Anantnag. The delegation from Auqaf Hazaratbal Khiram requested for undertaking the renovation work of old Shrine, development of park in Shrine’s surrounding and cleaning of spring. A sub-district hospital, community centre and a degree college were the demands put forth by Rajpora, Pulwama delegation. Bagat Kannipora delegation demanded the construction of drain and macadamization of road, while the Noorpora villagers demanded hospital building and upgradation of girl’s secondary school and improvement in the internal road network. The delegation from Shangus Anantnag requested for sanctioning of Women College at Shangus, construction of mini-secretariat so that all the Government offices could operate from a single place.
