Governor hoists tricolor and reviews parade at State level Independence Day function | KNO

Srinagar, August 15 (KNO) : Governor N. N. Vohra hoisted the tricolour at the State level function on the occasion of the Independence Day, at Sher-i-Kashmir, Cricket Stadium, this morning.

Governor inspected the parade and took the salute at an impressive march past which was commanded by S.S.P. Benam Tosh, Commanding Officer IR 17 Battalion.

The smart contingents participating in the Parade were from the Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, women contingents of J&K Police, JKAP, Executive Police, Himachal Pradesh Police, ITBP, SSB, State Disaster Response Force, J&K Fire and Emergency Services, J&K Forest Protection Force, NCC Boys and Girls, Boys and Girls from various schools, Bands of BSF, CRPF, J&K Police, and of several Boys and Girls Schools.

A colourful cultural pageantry based on national integration and the glorious composite heritage of the State and an impressive display of martial arts was presented on this occasion. Mrs. Usha Vohra, First Lady; Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh, Speaker Legislative Assembly; Justice Gita Mittal, Chief Justice of J&K High Court; Ms. Mehbooba Mufti and Sh. Omar Abdullah former Chief Ministers; Sh. K. Vijay Kumar, Sh. Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Advisors to Governor; Judges of the State High Court, Legislators; Sh. BVR Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary; Dr. S.P. Vaid, DGP; and senior Civil, Police and Army officers, political and social activists, prominent citizens, media persons and the citizenry were present on the occasion.
