Srinagar, August 29, 2018 (KNO) : All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani while paying rich tributes to the martyrs Altaf Ahmad Dar and Umar Rashid Wani, who faced an encounter at Kulgam Islamabad during the preceding night, reiterated its stand that the present armed struggle against the Indian subjugation is a sheer reaction.

It is not a hobby of our youth engaged in an armed struggle but a reaction of Indian military occupation on Jammu and Kashmir, said Geelani. Condemning the use of excessive force against the civil population leaving scores of men and women seriously wounded, Geelani termed the military action as a ploy to suppress the people with iron fists.

Citing the annals of our history, Syed Ali Geelani said that for the last 71 years, people of Kashmir have been demanding their birth right i.e. right to self-determination but the Indian stubbornness, which is unjustified, has served as a major stumbling-block for a peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute. Hurriyat chairman reiterated its fervent appeal to the people of Kashmir to observe complete civil curfew on 30 and 31 August against the vile conspiracies to change the Muslim majority character of the state.

Expressing his deep concern on victimizing the innocent people especially the youth in Poonch, Rajouri and across Peer Panchal region of Jammu division for raising pro-movement slogans during the protest rallies against the Indian barbarism, the Hurriyat leader lauded the strong commitment displayed by the people living in these remote and neglected regions of Jammu division. Hurriyat chairman while terming the behaviour of NIA and ED as a sheer vengeance against the incarcerated Hurriyat leaders expressed his utmost surprise on the fresh raids and extensive search operations on the residences of Altaf Ahmad Shah and Ayaz Akbar.

Intimidating the families of the said leaders, the ED sought the details of their property. It is highly deplorable and amazing that the NIA seized not only the personal documents of each and every kind but even the waste papers lying in the dustbins, said Geelani. Taking a dig on the communication gap between the Indian agencies be it NIA or ED, the Hurriyat leader expressed his wonder on the Enforcement Directorate asking for the property documents already seized by its sister agency (NIA), 15 months ago.

Condemning the brazen actions of ED to harass the families of those leaders already languishing in Tihar jails in a pathetic condition due to the ill-treatment of the jail authorities, the Hurriyat leader said that this type of ordeal is a unique example in modern civilized world. Rejecting and denouncing the nefarious designs of Indian agencies the Hurriyat leader saluted the high spirits of Shabir Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Raja Mehraj-ud-din Kalwal, Shahid Yousuf, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Shahid-ul-Islam, Rafiq Ahmad Dar, Mohammad Aslam Wani and Zahoor Ahmad Watali and reiterated its commitment that we will never succumb to any pressure, come what may. Hurriyat Chairman condemned the arrest of Mohammad Amin, serving as a cook in the Hurriyat office at the hands of occupation forces at Kulgam.

Lashing out at the dastardly action, Geelani Said Mohammad Amin, while on the way to his home at Kulgam was stopped and asked to display his identity card by the Indian forces. Knowing his affiliation with the Hurriyat conference, the forces personnel got annoyed and in a harassing position handed him over to police task force at Kulgam. Hurriyat leader termed the police action as a part of the repressive policy of vengeance against the Hurriyat Conference.

The Hurriyat leader while condemning the fresh arrest spree against Hurriyat Conference thereby incarcerating Feroz Ahmad Khan and Umar Aadil Dar said that these pressure tactics shall never deter us from our cherished goal. The Hurriyat leader cautioned the freedom loving people of the state to remain vigilant against these ploys to change the Muslim majority character of the state.
