Srinagar, Sep 7 (KNO) :  In a significant development, policy today employed a new technique to catch stone pelters at the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar, by asking cops in civvies to mingle with the protestors for some time and to caught hold of them at ease.

Soon after the Friday prayers culminated at the Jamia Masjid here, scores of youth resorted to massive protests following by stone throwing on the forces, who fired dozens of tear gas shells to quell the protestors. Suddenly, a few masked men resembling stone pelters, mingled with those hurling stones and bricks at police. “For a moment, they seemed part of the stone pelting group.

But later, we saw one of them, with a pistol in his hand, catching hold of a young boy and later whisking him away. The boy was later bundled into a police vehicle,” an eye-witness said. A police officer said that this is not a new technique but a move to get to the bottom as to how deep is the nexus of stone pelters. “Investigation of those arrested is on, let see what they will reveal,” he said.
