Srinagar 11.09.2018 (KNO) : Training Centre of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) namely Production- Cum-Marketing-Cum Training Centre (PMTC) imparted trainings to 160 traditional potters. The training was imparted to traditional potters at Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, Budgam, Baramula and Kupwara.
Training was imparted to 30 in Anantnag, 30 in Kulgam, 20 in Pulwama, 20 in Budgam, 30 in Baramula and 32 in Kupwara. KVIC North Zone Head Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat reviewed various training programmes including Pottery conducted by PMTC, KVIC, Pampore. Dr. Hina was informed about various training programmes conducted by PMTC, Pampore.
Hina emphasized on providing skill development training courses to the beneficiaries and conduct awareness about the flagship programme PMEGP of Government of India. During the visit to PMTC, KVIC, Pampore in August, North Zone Head was informed that PMTC Pampore has received a training course of Pottery for Traditional Potters with a target of 160. She instructed the concerned to expedite the training course for potters so that the target can be achieved in time.
In the meantime PMTC imparted trainings to 160 traditional potters. Besides, experts were called from Central Office Mumbai who imparted expertise training to these potters on electric pottery machines. Dr. Hina said that India cannot grow without the development of Bharat and added that the government main focus was to make the villagers self employed in their traditional profession but with linkage to modern development. She further said that electric potter wheels will allow potters to produce volumes of work even faster than before. These are lighter and much easily to move than the traditional one.
