SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 13 (KNO) : International cricketer and former J&K Ranji trophy skipper, Parvez Rasool along with a deputation from Bijbehara Cricket Association today called on Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai here at JK Governor’s Grievance Cell at Church Lane.

During the meeting, the all-round cricketer complained that the principal of Higher Secondary School Bijbehara has started a construction work over the playing field, which was developed by the locals from their own money for sports activities. Parvez informed the Advisor that he along with his associates prepared a cricketing turf from their own resource so that aspiring cricketers could avail the facility in their area. He said the locals as well as the Bijbehara Cricket Association has always extended all sort of cooperation and support to the school administration to better its facilities.

"We even went on to provide them grass cutters for the better maintenance of the ground from our own resources, yet despite having 20 kanals of land at their disposal, the school administration still started the construction work on the playing area, leaving sports lovers in vanquishing," complained Parvez. Taking immediate cognizance of the complaint, the Advisor issued on-spot directions to the Director School Education Kashmir to immediately stop the construction work on the playing field.

He instructed the Director to personally look into the matter and if need the construction should be carried out at a different place away from playing ground. Lauding the role of Parvez Rasool, the Advisor said that the cricketer has made everyone from the State proud of him by making huge progress in his career. Appreciating his commitment towards the game, the Advisor said Parvez has proved that a person can excel in any field provided he is committed and dedicated towards his goal and profession.

Hailing Bijbehara, Ganai said the place has produced some great sportspersons and Government would do everything possible to provide them with adequate facilities so that they could continue to bring more laurels for the State.
