Srinagar , 17 Sep (KNO) : Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) held a meeting in srinagar today and demanded stringent punishment for the hooligans who have ruthlessly beaten a post graduate resident doctor at Lala Dedi (LD) hospital, Srinagar.
It is unfortunate and beyond condemnation that how can large number of male attendants thrash a female resident doctor with sticks and rods. If such rowdies are not put behind bars and stringently dealt with law of land , social degradation is bound to happen said president DAK Dr Suhail Naik. It is due to constant threat of hooligans , large number of specialist doctors are leaving state and in recent past government has terminated services of 165 doctors, who have also left much desired government job. Dr Owais H Dar, General secretary DAK called this incident as shameful and demanded for permanent hospital security for the doctors across the state .
It is high time that the government must bring ordinance where in offence against doctors and damage to hospital infrastructure must be treated as non- bailable crime. Large number of doctors are leaving the state as they feel frightened to work in state hospitals as it is now routine for Gundas, poltical workers to create fuss in hospitals to stay in limelight Dr Owais added. Vice president DAK, Dr Mohd Ashraf said the situation has reached to alarming level and it is now moral responsibility of civil societies, religious leaders , scholars , educationists to intervene and save the state from brain drain. Dr Mohd Yusuf Tak who is Convenor of Jammu and kashmir doctors cordination committee (JKDCC) urges the Hon'ble Governor Shri Satya Pal Malik to intervene in this grave issue and bring the much needed ordinance for treating voilence against doctors as Non bailable offence.
