DAK delegation met Principal Secretary health and medical education | KNO

Srinagar ,24 September (KNO) : Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) delegation headed by president Dr Suhail Naik today on Monday met with Principal Secretary HME Mr Atul Dullo, here at Civil Secretariat. The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere wherein the delegation apprised the officer about demands of doctors especially Caderization, Security, risk and rural allowances. DAK delegation conveyed Commissioner that physical and verbal offence against on duty heath staff is non bailable offence in nineteen states and it is very unfortunate that our state has not similar ordinance to safeguard the health employees. It was learnt that the file for the same is at advanced stage and under active consideration of government. Further delegation apprised him about pay anomaly and various discrepancies pertaining to salary issues of Medical officers, Dental Surgeons and Consultants. The delegation briefed him about the continuous risks and hazards the doctors are exposed and demanded enhancement of special duty allowance/risk allowance. Meanwhile DAK delegation also demanded more allowances for doctors who are posted in far flung areas than those who are posted in capital city on pattern of Himachal Pradesh. Doctors with poltical and bureaucratic clout are posted at capital city and rest are posted to far flung areas. DAK also apprised the Commissioner about the adverse and negative consequences for not appointing Health directors for Kashmir and Jammu on fast track basis. Commissioner assured delegation that within days, appointment of directors will be done in seniority and merit as demanded by the association. The Commissioner gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation that their genuine demands will be addressed on priority. Second meeting meeting of the already framed high level Committee will be called shortly. “Doctors are professionals and it is our moral responsibility to raise their morale in the society”, Commissioner Secretary added.
