Srinagar, September 28, 2018 (KNO) : Expressing his strong reaction and concern over the fresh crackdown on pro-freedom leaders, activists, youth & nocturnal raids by occupational administration in entire Kashmir on eve of upcoming sham Muncipal and Panchayat election, Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Geelani termed the rhetoric of India being world’s largest democracy as mere hoax and deceit as its highhandedness and brutality is exposed in every nook and corner of the valley. Condemning the police actions and shifting of incarcerated Hurriyat spokesman Gh. Ahmad Gulzar, Peer Gh. Mohi-ud-din and Advocate Hussian Ahmad Pazalpora to Kotbalwal and arrest of Hakeem Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Yaseen Aataie, Syed Imtiyaz Haider, Mohammad Sadiq Lone Nadihal, Javid Ahmad Wani Nadihal, Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, Gulzar Ahmad, Aabid Javid Wani, Suhail Mushtaq and Tawseef Ahmad Lone.

Geelani said that people all over the world protest against excesses and for their judicious demands which is their democratic right but the state of Jammu & Kashmir is the only exception where peaceful protesters are showered with bullets and pallets. He said that by chocking the democratic voice of people and their peaceful means of protest and denying their basic rights of the people, Indian authorities are creating a war like situation and preparing an armed drill for election drama. Reiterating the call for boycott of upcoming Muncipal and Panchayat election, Syed Ali Geelani in a statement, said that participation in elections, amounts to betrayal of the sacred blood of martyrs and disrespect and humiliation to the unparalled sacrifices of people in general and youth in particular. Geelani Sahab wanted people to stand united in defeating the nefarious designs of the oppressor and completely boycott the elections as they did in 2017, which will have very positive and encouraging effect on the ongoing movement, as Indian imperialistic mindset is portraying these elections as a substitute to our right to self-determination and always tries to hoodwink the Indian people & international community.

He further said that those who participate in elections and seeking votes from people have an unending lust of power and wealth, which increases with each passing day.

They are nothing, but the worst enemies of our nation as they act as the collaborators of the oppressor just for their personnel gains. Hurriyat chairman said that most of the pro-freedom leadership is behind bars or under house arrest, it is the need of hour that we all join not only our hands but hearts as well to reach out and convey the message to the people that every vote mounts to strengthen the hold of Indian forced occupation. Our religious clerks, scholars, intellectuals and civil societies should also shoulder the responsibility to educate the common masses about the implication of voting in these sham elections. He further said that our educated youth and conscious pro-freedom intellectuals have always come forward in the hour of crises and I am sure they will not let us down today as well.(KNO)
