Srinagar, September 30 (KNO) : The ongoing Municipal Polls seems to have left an open space for the Bhartiya Janata Party, who is all set to gain much from the ongoing polls in the wake of National Conference and PDP’s decision of staying away from the polls.

Though Congress is in the fray, but the boycott has resulted in the direct benefit to the BJP, that has already wrested Devsar and Qazigund Municipal committees and in many other places, the party candidates, majority of them youth, are leading.“Yes, we have won Devsar and Qazigund and on other seats, we are leading,” BJP state spokesman Altaf Thakur told (KNO).

Though the Congress believes its decision of joining the fray was a plan to keep the RSS-backed BJP at bay and not to give them a field day, but the parties decision to join poll pray seems to be helping BJP as suggested by the figures. Perhaps, the BJP’s plan was to ensure polls take place despite NC, PDP boycott and the threat by militants, only to see its candidates winning and the plan seems to be going in a right direction. Militant commander of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit had warned the carrying out the acid attack in case they join the poll fray.(KNO)
