Srinagar, October 02 (KNO) : Dozens of Public Health Engineering (PHE) daily wagers along with their children protested here on Tuesday, demanding their wages pending from past 22 months.
PHE employees along with their kids assembled at Pratap Park here, chanting slogans against the government for withholding their wages from nearly two years. They said that the delay in releasing their wages has led to the immense hardships to thousands of families. Accusing the government for ignoring their plights, the protesting employees here have demanded immediate redressal of their grievances.
The association president, Sajad Ahmad Parray said that today’s protest was organized against delay in wages from last 22 months. “It is unfortunate that the government has failed to release the wages of employees from past several months but at the same time is announcing additional one month salary to the government employees who will be taking part in election duty,” he said, adding that the government instead of releasing the wages of PHE employees are leaving them to lurch at large.
He also said that the government must release their wages pending from nearly two years, saying that all the offices across the Valley will be locked down on October 05 and 06 to mark a protest against the delay in wages. “In case the government will not release our wages soon and in case our wages will not be released then they will stop water supply from all the division to mark a protest against the delay in wages,” he said.
The protesting employees also urged the government to release their wages at an earliest.(KNO)
