Mother of three torched to death, alleges family | KNO

Bandipora, October 09 (KNO) : A woman, mother of three Tuesday succumbed to her injuries at SMHS hospital in Srinagar. The lady had sustained burn injuries on October 06 in Bandipora. “On 6th of October a 40-year-old lady working in a medical department was set on fire by the In-laws in village Ahmshareef of Bandipora district,” the family however alleged.Hailing from Nusoo area, the deceased was married eight years before with Lateef Ahmad Baba of Ahmshareef and were having three kids. The family alleged that she was set on fire in Ahmshareef following which she was referred to district hospital Bandipora for treatment. It was the same hospital where the lady was working as Nurse. She had sustained severe burn injuries and was referred to SMHS Srinagar for specialized treatment.However, the lady succumbed to her injuries today.The postmortem of lady was done in District Hospital Bandipora following which the body was handed over to relatives of Nusoo area of Bandipora.The brother of deceased Rehana, Javid Ahmad Khan said that his sister was akind and a pious lady. “I believe that she was set on fire by her in-laws,” he said.Further, he added that he urged police to investigate the matter thoroughly and demanded strict punishment against the culprits.Police officials however told (KNO) that the in-laws of the deceased were called for questioning while as the investigation is going on. Meanwhile, the colleague nurse of Rehana also staged a protest in this regard and demanded strict punishment against the culprits.(KNO)
