Baramulla, October 13 (KNO) : 31 candidates were in contest in third phase of municipal election in Uri for 13 wards. 13 Candidates contested from congress party, 14 contested as an independent and 5 candidates from Saffron party .The polling started at 6am and concluded at 4pm later. Uri town witnessed highest turnout in the third phase of ULB polls and touched 75.33% with this total 2676 votes were polled out of 3552 in which 1328 Males and1348 casted their votes to their candidates.
Perennially as third phase of municipal polls begin in Jammu and Kashmir, Sopore town and Hajin of North Kashmir's goes uncontested. Official reports to (KNO) that non of party filled nomination papers opposite Saffron party in town with the result no election held here. Officials told (KNO) that Bharatiya Janata Party won here in Sopore town as uncontested when a Lone candidate earlier joined hands towards Safron party.
Pertinently 7 candidates from saffron party filled nomination papers among two women also showed their intrest towards Saffron party, and later Lone candidate also joined them with the result total 8 BJP candidates were on ground. (KNO)
