34 IC, 03 BJP including 13 female candidates win Kupwara civic polls | KNO

Kupwara, October 20 (KNO) : 34 independent candidates across district Kupwara registered their win including three BJP candidates from Langate, winners include 13 women candidates across district Kupwara as well. 34 independent candidates fielded by different political parties registered their win at northern Kahsmir’s Kupwara district in civic polls held across the state. At three municipal councils of district Kupwara candidates of 37 wards were in poll fray out of 39 total wards across Kupwara, two wards of langate council were deserted as none had filed nomination forms.At municipal council Kupwara 09 male candidates and 04 female candidates registered their win. In Handwara council 07 male and 06 female candidates registered their win similarly at Langate 09 candidates were already declared winners as they were unopposed leaving two candidates in poll fray with two deserted wards. Across district Kupwara at three municipal councils, 13 winners won their seats fielded by different political parties.As Per official data all the candidates across district Kupwara who registered their win in the civic polls had filed their nomination forms as independent candidates excluding 03 candidates of Bahartiya Janta Party (BJP) at muncipal council langate. 03 candidates of BJP have also registered their win at municipal council Langate, which includes 01 female and 02 male. There were 17 candidates across district Kupwara who had won uncontested which includes, 09 at Langate municipal council, 06 at Handwara and 02 at Kupwara municipal council. Earlier in a tweet peoples conference patron Sajad Gani Lone had claimed the winning of all the candidates fielded by his party in civic polls at all the three muncipal council of district Kupwara. Sources revelled that all the independent candidates who registered their win at municipal council Handwara were backed by Peoples Conference.Its worth mention here that two hard-core mainstream political parties of the state National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party had announced that, “They won't take part in upcoming civic polls".At municipal council Kupwara Reyaz Ahmad Mir who registered his win is brother of PDPs Member of parliament Fayaz Ahmad Mir. Across district kupwara 30.49 % of votes were polled.(KNO)
