Kupwara, November 01 (KNO) : The government of India’s special representative for Jammu and Kashmir Dineshwar Sharma met around 12 delegations in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday and voiced for the peace in Kashmir.The interlocutor, who is former Intelligence Bureau chief, was on his second visit to Kupwara district after being appointed as an interlocutor for Kashmir. The interlocutor met around 80 people from 12 delegations at Environmental Hall in Handwara, amid tight security, officials said.The delegations took up a wide range of issues from unemployment, lack of basic amenities in their areas, underdevelopment and the prevailing situation of Kashmir.The first delegation Sharma met where newly elected councilors of the Municipal committee Handwara, who raised several issues about the development in the town, “The meet was not so political for what he is designed for, we generally put the issue of development in front of him,” Masroor ahmad who lead the municipal delegation Handwara to Sharma.“We are elected by the people with a hope that there will be development, if the government of India is not going to take any step related to our issues then this exercise is a futile exercise and should be called off,” Masroor added.
A delegation said that we told interlocutor that the dispute of Kashmir which is going on from last three decades should be resolved on prior basis, “this is a political dispute and it should be solved politically, Kashmir is burning presently, the young boys are giving their carriers by joining the path of militancy and are being killed, look at the ground situation and tell prime minister of India to resolve the Kashmir issue,” said Aijaz ahmad who lead a delegation to Sharma. “The delegation that came to meet him comes up with their local issues, which is unfortunately not his domain; every person should have told him that when you are going to talk with Syed Salaud-din, Reyaz Naikoo and other stake holders for peace in Kashmir, rest it is a futile exercise.” Said MLA Langate Er Rasheed after his meet with Sharma.“The issue of Kashmir should be resolved once for all, rest there is nothing in these meetings,” Rasheed added.The Locals of Kashmiri’s which came back from Pakistan through Nepal are waiting for the citizenship, “we were told to wait for at least six years to get the citizenship, but we are still waiting, we are facing every kind of issues here, our wards are not getting admissions,” said Riffat who lead the female delegation to meet Sharma.“My father and mother died recently but I was not able to visit home on their funeal, we are being torched here, we asked interlocutor to highlight our issue with the higher authorities so that we will get the citizenship, he gave us a time of six months we hope our demands are going to solve, if not then we are forced to choose the path of violence,” Riffat added. Dineshwar shrma while talking to media said, “We will pray for the peace in Kashmir” Sharma said.(KNO)
