Srinagar, November 08 (KNO) : Expressing serious concern over the damages caused to Lissar Power Grid Station due to recent snowfall leaving Kokernag, Veerinag and other adjoining areas without electricity, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President, G A Mir on Thursday urged upon the Governor Administration to restore the grid station without any further loss of time. Mir as per a statement issued to KNO was interacted with the local delegations, who called on him at Veerinag today, briefing him about other issues of public importance. The delegations apprised the JKPCC President about the problems confronting people of Veerinag, Kokernag and other adjoining areas in absence of electricity. They also apprised him about the anguish among the students preparing for different exams, who are not able to study in absence of the electricity. The delegations also sought adequate compensation to the orchardists in South Kashmir and elsewhere, who have suffered heavily due to the recent snowfall.Mir blamed that Divisional administration for failing to make Lissar grid stations functional, saying that few inches of snow have exposed the preparedness of the Govt. He emphasized that there was an immediate need to restore the grid station to ensure that common people as well as students do not suffer on account of electricity, urging upon the Divisional Administration to gear up, making PDD accountable and answerable for failing to address the concern of the people, besides ensuring that Lissar Grid Station is restored forthwith. He urged that adequate compensation to orchardists in South Kashmir and elsewhere, after assessing the losses, be ensured, at the earliest.(KNO)
