Srinagar, November 09 (KNO) : Strongly condemning murder of Jamiet-e-Ulmaie Islam president, Maulana Sami-ul-Haq in Pakistan, Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani on Friday said that difference of opinion is a good sign of any health society and it should always be constructive and purposeful. While reiterating his stand, Geelani in a statement issued to KNO said that any society especially Muslim can in no way afford to be consumed by those inhuman acts. He further said that “Moulana was a tall politico-religious scholar having a sound contribution in the educational and political spheres of Pakistan and his death in such a manner is very painful and sad.” Condoling the death of a veteran politician of AJK Khalid Ibrahim, Geelani said that late Khalid Ibrahim was a brave and honest politician who always stood by his principles and never compromised on them. Terming him as ‘a sincere voice’ of Kashmiries, he said that deceased always favoured accession of Kashmir to Pakistan and was bold enough to put forward his point of view despite domestic and national criticism. Geelani said that death is what every life has to taste. Condoling and consoling the bereaved families of Moulana Sami-Ul-Haq and Khalid Ibrahim, he prayed for eternal peace of the deported souls and courage to them to bear this irreparable loss. Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (G) strongly condemned the continuous house raids and arrests of youth in length and breadth of Jammu and Kashmir and ‘physical torture by police and para-military forces’. Hurriyat (G) said that “in this lawless state, armed men in uniform are the ultimate authority to decide one’s fate and they willfully and revengefully harass and humiliate the common people. Citing the example of Warapaw Aalastang Ganderbal, were some Mujahideen managed to escape unhurt in a cordon and search operation a few days back, forces have started to arrest a local youth and torture them just to take the revenge.” “A few youth after arrest were forced to spend the whole night in open in this severe cold after interrogating them ruthlessly, endangering their life and they had to be admitted to SKIMS as they were critically ill,” Hurriyat (G) said. Hurriyat termed these ‘inhuman and immoral acts’ as weapons of war by the occupier but “as in past they fail to subjugate us in future as well.” Meanwhile, Hurriyat (G) organized protest march at Hyderpora Srinagar against the gross human rights violation committed by the forces in length and breadth of the state. The protestors displayed placards and banners to highlight their demands to safeguard their political and civil rights with reference to the movement for right to self-determination. Senior members of Majlis Shoora and other representatives who participated in the protest march include Molvi Bashir Irfani, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Bilal Sidiqui, Syed Mohammad Shafi, Khawaja Firdous, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Hamid Ilahi, Bashir Ahmad Indrabi, Maqbool Maghami, Arshad Aziz and Mubashir Iqbal in addition to hundreds of youth and other activists. Addressing a gathering at Hyderpora, Hurriyat leaders said that the Indian policy of suppression and repression in Jammu and Kashmir has failed to yield any positive results for India. “Through the elongated period of ordeal and barbarism since 1947, India is currently facing a powerful people’s political movement for right to self-determination in every nook and corner of the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” said protesting leaders.(KNO)
