Srinagar, November 14 (KNO) : Muslim League (ML) Jammu Kashmir on Wednesday condemned the slapping of 37th Public Safety Act (PSA) on its chairman, Masarat Alam Bhat and his shifting to Hiranagar jail in Jammu. Muslim League Spokesman, Sajad Ayoubi in a statement issued to KNO said, “The court, while quashing the 35th PSA order against Masrat Aalam on 26.10.17 had directed the authorities to release him immediately. But instead of releasing, he was rearrested in connection with a frivolous FIR of 2015 lodged against him in Handwara and slapped 36th PSA, which stands invalid now as its has expired as per duration.” “Now, again he has been re-arrested in connection with and FIR lodged against him in Baramulla and slapped 37 PSA on him,” the ML spokesman, Sajjad Ayoubi said, adding that “it is because authorities are afraid of Aalam's popularity and political perspicacity.”Sajad Ayoubi condemned the slapping of 37th PSA on Masarat Aalam Bhat, saying “It is the worst demonstration of political vendetta.” Ayoubi said that “honor of judiciary is at stake and even authorities notice that fundamental rights of a person are denied and trampled, however act as mute spectator and no Suo-moto action is initiated against erring authorities. Judiciary is not free from political influence and this is the reason that they feel helpless to act or take steps to check this.” Blaming police officers for disregarding and overlooking court orders and repeatedly slapping PSA on Masarat Alam, Ayoubi said that for wrongdoings, they should be prosecuted under contempt proceedings. Strongly criticizing administration, judiciary and police for ‘unfair approach’ against Masarat Alam, Ayoubi said that though they are equally responsible for this lawlessness. “District administration acts as mere rubber stamps. Although it is within their jurisdiction to look and confirm the validity of grounds,” he said.”It is pity that despite being highly qualified, their conscience is dead and they just for the sake of privileges and service benefits ignore these unjust procedures against detainees,” he said. “It is sheer state sponsored terrorism,” he said, expressing solidarity and sympathy with Masarat’s family. Sajad Ayoubi said that “it is a law of nature that sooner or later the tyrant & arrogant forces shall have to pay and perish.”(KNO)
