Srinagar, November 15(KNO) : After a long pause of 8 years, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani on Thursday visited his home town Duroo, Sopore to condole the demise of his eldest son-in-law Gh. Hassan Makhdoomi. Consoling the children of deceased and his elder daughter, amongst thousands of mourners, Geelani as per a statement issued to KNO said that "authorities, with a heavy heart has let him come to this place after about 8 years." Speaking at the occasion, he said that "I have been confined in the four walls of my house since 2010 with a large contingent of police and CRPF. My residence has actually been changed into a prison, where every visitor is frisked and searched so minutely that people including our relatives are reluctant to visit us."
"Every live object has to meet this destiny and nobody, even most powerful individuals, with all their might and wisdom have to take this eternal journey," he said, adding that no human irrespective of his faith and religion, cast and creed can deny death, but "we as Muslims have faith that our permanent and unending span of life starts with the leaving this temporary life, and believers of Almighty Allah always seek His blessings to combat any suffering or hardship and try to face them with courage and bravery." Deliberating about the prevailing situation in the valley, he said that "our pious and sacred movement demands utmost unity, dedication, oneness and sincerity as a nation and we in no way can afford to compromise with the holy blood of our martyrs for pretty personnel gains, no matter how big and mighty they are!"Referring to the historical background of Kashmir issue, Pro-freedom leader said that "I have always reaffirmed my stand that we never demanded any legitimate piece of land from India, but only demands our basic and birth right, i.e. right to self-determination promised by the Indian leaders with global witness and world guarantee."
"Instead of addressing our genuine demands our illegal and forced occupier always tries to crush us with military might, but our resolve and unparalleled sacrifices have proved it beyond doubt that this arrogant mindset has miserably failed to kill our emotions and dilute our vigor for freedom," he said. "Indian denial mode has consumed our three generations and is threatening the global peace and stability by its arrogant attitude," he added. Requesting youth to abstain from immoral and unsocial activities, Geelani said, "Our resourceful and hypocratic enemy’s strategy to destroy and cripple us."He appealed the young generation to abide by Islamic teachings and get to nerves of the oppressed so that it never succeeds in its nefarious designs.(KNO)
