38 militants killed in Shopian district this year so far | KNO

Shopian, November 20 (KNO) : With the killing of four more militants in South Kashmir’s Shopian district today, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday said that at least 38 militants have been killed in the district so far. Police officials while talking to Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the four militants have been killed in the gunfight today at Shopian while as one Army commando was also injured in the gunfight who later succumbed to his injuries. The police officials further added that the at least 38 militants affiliated with different outfits including Hizb-ul-Mujhaideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Muhammad and Al-Badr were killed in Shopian district in this year so far. They said that today’s encounter was the fourth major operation against the militants that took place in the district this year.       Pertinently, three civilians were also killed by the militants in Southern districts especially in Shopian in recent who they claimed were informers. Police had said that they are investigating the matter and all those propagating the killings on social media will also be nabbed with the help of service providers and other things. The operations against the militants witnessed a pace since November this year. Police had said that the operations are successful due to the flow of information. However, the top police and Army officers have also claimed that the recruitment in the militant outfits has decreased to a large extent.(KNO)
