14-year-old girl among two injured civilians succumb to their injuries

Srinagar, November 24 (KNO) : A 14-year-old girl among the two civilians who had sustained injuries in different incidents succumbed to their injuries at two Srinagar hospitals. The duo was identified as Muskan Jan of Wangud- Qaimoh and Ishfaq Ahmad, son of Nazir Ahmad Ganie of Magraypora Budgam. Muskan was critically injured in a shootout in Khudwani area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district had sustained grievous injuries in a shootout in Khudwani area of Kulgam district on Thursday morning, officials told KNO.However, after battling for a life for two days, the injured girl succumbed to her injuries today at Srinagar’s SMHS hospital. Police had earlier said that militants fired several shots at an Army camp stationed in a part of Rice Research Institute of Sher-e-Kashmir Agriculture University’s (SKAUST) campus at Khudwani in the wee hours on Thursday. “The army soldiers retaliated, leading to a brief exchange of fire. Muskan was unfortunately caught in crossfire and sustained bullet injury,” reports quoting police said. Muskan was later shifted to a sub-district hospital in Qaimoh where from she was referred to SMHS hospital in Srinagar for treatment. However, Muskan succumbed to her injuries today. Meanwhile, a civilian from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district who had sustained bullet injuries in a firing incident near an Army camp in Chattergam area last night died at SKIMS Soura on Saturday. The civilian as per locals was killed in Army firing while as Army blamed militants over his killing, says Army party reached the spot after hearing gun shots  where they found a civilian there who was fired upon by the militants. Army in a statement has yesterday said that the civilian was later evacuated to the hospital by the soldiers. However, locals in slain civilian’s village staged a protest against Ishfaq’s killing, saying that he was killed by the Army. Ishfaq who was on ventilator since last evening has succumbed to his injuries at 4 am this morning, officials said.(KNO)
