Srinagar, December 01 (KNO) : Hurriyat Conference (M) strongly denounced and ridiculed the authorities for disallowing the one day workers and delegates’ session of the amalgam to be held on Saturday at the amalgam's Rajbagh Headquarters. Hurriyat (M) said that chairman of amalgam, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was put under house arrest last night while the conglomerate's head office in Rajbagh was sealed and barred for entry early morning. “When hundreds of delegates and workers who had come from various parts of the valley were not allowed to assemble here they along with senior leaders Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and others moved towards the residence of Prof Bhat to conduct the session there,” the amalgam said, adding that “but before they could reach there all lanes and by lanes leading to Prof’s house were also sealed by a large contingent of police and forces and no one was allowed to move inside!”

The spokesman said that “using force and might to disallow the delegate session of a political outfit even indoors, shows the tremendous insecurity and fear of exposure of people’s will by the ruling authorities. Such authoritarian highhandedness is condemnable and against all norms of anything democratic.” He said that “Hurriyat represents the true aspirations of people who have been offering priceless sacrifices for the freedom struggle and such dictatorial measures only go to show the authorities frustration in accepting this reality.” The spokesman condemned the frequent CASOs across Kashmir, which results in the killings and maiming of people of all ages. He said that “this is being done to push the people into submission and to make them give up their legitimate demand.”(KNO)
