Jammu, December 01 (KNO) : National Conference (NC) leaders and activists led by its senior leader and former JMC Mayor Dharamvir Singh on Saturday carried out a rally-cum-protest against Governor Satya Pal Malik’s recent decision to treat J&K Bank as a public sector. Singh along with other party leaders as per KNO correspondent took out a rally from NC party headquarters Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan to Ragunath Mandir Chowk to show the resentment against the decision of the government and demanded to revoke the decision being taken in the recent SAC meeting. J&K Bank was on last Friday brought under the purview of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) guidelines and the state legislature, an official said. The State Administrative Council (SAC), which met here on last Thursday under the chairmanship of Malik, approved the proposal for treating the J&K Bank Limited as a public sector undertaking, the official said. The SAC approved that the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information Act, 2009 shall be applicable to the bank like other PSUs.(KNO)
