Army pays tribute to its slain soldier | KNO

Srinagar, December 07 (KNO) : Army on Friday paid tributes to Late Gunner Rajesh Kumar who was killed in the line of duty fighting the enemy at Line of Control in Machil Sector of Kupwara district on 06 December 2018. In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the slain Army man. Representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects to him. Late Gunner Rajesh Kumar sustained bullet injuries during ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control in Machil sector, the statement issued to KNO reads, adding that he was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries. Kumar, 25, had joined the Army in 2013. He belonged to Village Rejua of Jalesar Tehsil in Etah District of Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his parents and wife. His mortal remains were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with his bereaved family and remains committed to their dignity and well being.(KNO)
