Srinagar, December 10 (KNO) : The Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) on Monday staged a protest to mark International Human Rights Day and to demand whereabouts of their kin who have been allegedly victims of ‘enforced disappearances at the hands of government forces’. According to KNO correspondent, relatives of the disappeared people alleged that their kith and kin are victims of enforced disappearances by the Indian forces from their homes, streets and roads. APDP chairperson, Parveena Ahangar asked India to comply with its obligations under international human rights laws. “We have been fighting for 28 years against the enforced disappearances of their children. More than 10,000 individuals are missing who were taken into custody by different Indian agencies,” Parveena said. Ahanger said that they do not as for monetary benefits or jobs but want to see their children. “At least inform us if they are alive or dead,” she demanded. Ahanger said that they will ‘fight against the atrocities till our death so that our future generations do not suffer what we have suffered’.(KNO)
