Srinagar, December 19 (KNO) : The Chief Education officer (CEO) Kupwara, Shafiq Nabi War on Wednesday withdrew the orders issued from the office of Zonal Education Officer Langate asking officials not to wear the ‘Feran’, a traditional Kashmiri dress while visiting the office. The order was withdrawn soon after it turned into a controversy as many high profile persons including former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah criticized the move. Reports said that, officials from education department of zone Langate were found wearing Feran and other informal dresses like plastic shoes, sleepers and other unofficial stuff following which the concerned ZEO issued an order, asking officials not to wear Feran while visiting the office. The order issued from the ZEO office Langate reads as, "All the officials visiting the office are hereby advised to visit the office by proper dress code during any official visit. It is recommended that no official will visit this office wearing 'Feran' traditional trousers, sleepers and plastic shoes". Despite warnings, none of the officials abide by following which an order was issued to put a complete halt to the practice, an official of the concerned Zonal told KNO. In this regard, the Chief Education Officer Kupwara Shafiq Nabi War told KNO that, “the order has been withdrawn.”(KNO)
