Srinagar, December 22 (KNO) : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday urged the Government of India not to view Kashmir’s present situation with a jaundiced eye and asked it to initiate a comprehensive dialogue and reconciliation process to stop Kashmir from turning into a theatre of war. Addressing party functionaries in Char-e-Sharief assembly segment, PDP General Secretary and former Minister Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura stated that PDP is the only political party in the state that has been making strenuous efforts since its inception to make peace an inseparable feature of the state and get the people of out of the vicious cycle of violence and bloodshed. According to a statement issued to KNO, he added that the party has been rendering immense sacrifices for the purpose and will continue with its endeavor to pitch for dialogue with all stakeholders for the Kashmir resolution. “It is a fact known to all that even after forming the government, the party didn’t surrender its core ideology and remained firm on its stand. It is the need of the hour to strengthen the PDP so that the nefarious designs of the vested interests to weaken the just voice of Kashmir are thwarted with impeccable will and determination,” Hanjura said in his address. The PDP General Secretary further asked the party leaders and activists to strengthen the party at the grassroots as attacks against it on multiple fronts are being launched with a sole aim to weaken the voice of the perturbed people of the state. “The PDP founder Mufti Mohd Sayeed built PDP with an objective to make the people at the helm listen to the ordeals of the people and address them on priority. We have always been pitching for the resolution of Kashmir issue and have put our desires and wishes at stake for it. Our party will continue to tread the just path no matter how treacherous it becomes in the future,” Hanjura said. He also expressed concern over the escalation of violence in Kashmir and stated that the muscular approach to address the issue will fail to yield any results. He underscored the need for dialogue and reconciliation, stating that killings and violence will turn Kashmir into a graveyard and will only make silence of cemetery prevalent in Valley.(KNO)
