To discuss forthcoming strategy, PDP holds meeting of its senior leadership | KNO

Srinagar, December 24 (KNO) : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday held the meeting of its senior leaders and functionaries at the party’s head office here in which state’s present political situation and measurers vital for party’s overall growth were discussed at threadbare. Addressing party functionaries, PDP Vice President Abdul Rahman Veeri said that it has always been the cardinal principle of the PDP to continue pitching for dialogue and reconciliation so that the state could be saved from violence and pillage. According to a statement issued to KNO, he added that muscular policy for Kashmir has never yielded any results and has instead proven counterproductive. The meeting also discussed at threadbare the measures which at present are needed to be taken to strengthen the party on ground. It also held the detailed discussions over the party’s forthcoming strategy to defend the Article 35-A and safeguarding of state’s unique position. The participants also hailed the persistent efforts of the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti for making defense of 35-A at the supreme court her prime concern and standing firm on her resolve to defend Jammu and Kashmir’s integrity at all costs. Veeri also asked the party leaders to speed up their activities and hold constant consultations with ground level workers and activists at their respective constituencies. Chaired by Party’s Vice President Abdul Rahman Veeri, those who were present in the meeting include PDP General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, MLC Mohammad Khurshed Alam, state secretaries Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Asiya Naqash, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, District President Pulwama and former minister Mohammad Khalil Bandh, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, District President Kupwara Fayaz Ahmad Mir, District President Kulgam Sheikh Ghulam Mohi-uddin, District President Anantnag Advocate Javaid Ahmad Sheikh, District President Baramulla Irshad Rasool Kar, District President Ganderbal Bashir Ahmad Mir and several others.(KNO)
