Srinagar, December 25 (KNO) : Lashing out at the BJP government over changing names of cities and places in India, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said that ‘such gimmick is done to deflect attention from real issues’. According to KNO correspondent, Mehbooba in her tweets said at a time when the unemployment has left youth in distress and crores are living under open sky, the name changing seems to be a mere gimmick to deflect attention from the real issues. “At a time when our country is witnessing rising agrarian distress and unemployment, crores still live without a roof on their head. Name changing seems to be a mere gimmick to deflect attention from the real issues,” Mehbooba wrote on twitter. She also questioned the purpose that will be achieved through such steps, asking will it help in alleviating poverty or addressing inflation “Fail to understand what purpose would it achieve? Will it help in alleviating poverty or addressing inflation? Instead attempts are being made to distort history,” she tweeted. The BJP government in different states of India has changed the name of various places and cities, the moves which were opposed by the opposition political parties in the country and also in different states.(KNO)
