Govt constitutes Management Committee for Road Safety Fund | KNO

Jammu, January 03 (KNO): The Government on Thursday ordered constitution of Road Safety Fund Management Committee in the State. According to an order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), the Committee will be headed by the Administrative Secretary, Finance Department. Members of the Committee include Administrative Secretary Housing & Urban Development Department or representative not below the rank of Special Secretary to the Government; Administrative Secretary, Health &Medical Education or representative not below the rank of Special Secretary to the Government; Administrative Secretary, Home Department or representative not below the rank of Special Secretary to the Government; Administrative Secretary, Planning, Development & Monitoring Department or representative not below the rank of Special Secretary to the Government; Administrative Secretary, Public Works (R&B) Department or representative not below the rank of Special Secretary to the Government; Administrative Secretary, School Education Department or representative not below the rank of Special Secretary to the Government; Administrative Secretary, Transport Departmentand Inspector General of Police, Traffic, J&K. Transport Commissioner, J&K will be the Member Secretary of the Committee. The Committee shall review physical and financial progress of sanctioned schemes, ensure maintenance of accounts in accordance with rules and place all the proposals and Action Plan before the J&K State Road Safety Council for information of the Council. The Committee shall meet once in every quarter of the financial year. Pertinently, the Governor’s Administration notified the Road Safety Rules last September and also released a corpus of Rs 8 crore for the Road Safety Fund to ensure effective implementation of road safety measures.(KNO)
