Srinagar, January 04 (KNO) : Brother of a Sarpanch of Khassipora area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district was Friday killed by unidentified gunmen in his native village after they opened gunfire at him. The deceased has been identified as Simranjeet Singh, son of Nanak Singh, resident of Khassipora Tral.
Police sources told KNO that Singh was fired upon by unidentified gunmen in his native village. “He was critically wounded after he was shot at and was removed to medical facility, where from he was shifted to Srinagar for advanced treatment,” he said.
Singh was shifted Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries. His brother Rajinder Singh according to sources is Sarpanch of Khasipora Tral. “He was associated with Congress party but had later contested as an independent candidate,” sources claimed.(KNO)
