Srinagar, January 09 (KNO) : As the Army chief general Bipin Rawat pitched for a dialogue with Taliban, the former chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir including Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti questioned over the reluctance regarding political initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, Army chief had stated that there should be negotiations with Taliban, but without conditions. According to KNO, the duo reacting over the Army Chief’s statement took to the social networking site, Twitter and pitched for talks to resolve Kashmir issue. Former CM and National Conference (NC) Vice president, Omar Abdullah in a tweet said that “why is our policy all about ‘do as we say, don’t do as we do’.” “We bat for talks with Taliban, autonomy for Tibet & Tamil areas of Sri Lanka yet we are unwilling to look at engagement or political initiatives in J&K. Why is our policy all about “do as we say, don’t do as we do”? Engagement for Taliban, Operation All-Out for Kashmir,” Omar tweeted. Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti in her tweet asked the Government of India to reciprocate the dialogue offer from Pakistan and initiate dialogue with Hurriyat and other stakeholders to put an end to the vicious cycle of violence in J&K “If the Army Chief can advocate for talks with Taliban then why different standards when it comes to our own people? Accept peace offer from Pakistan, initiate dialogue with Hurriyat and other stakeholders put an end to the vicious cycle of violence in J&K,” Mehbooba tweeted.(KNO)
