Srinagar, January 09 (KNO): The record maker who topped 2009 IAS examinations, Shah Faesal who served at top posts in the divisional administration has finally left bureaucracy and finds solace in politics.
Reports said that Shah Faesal has resigned citing 'unabated killings in Kashmir' and 'lack of any credible political initiative' from Union Government.
The top IAS officer also confirmed his resignation in his Facebook post, saying that he has resigned as a mark of protest against the “unabated killings” in Kashmir, and absence of any credible political initiative from Union Government.
“The marginalization and invisiblization of around 200 million Indian Muslims at the hands of Hindutva forces reducing them to second-class citizens; insidious attacks on the special identity of the J&K State and growing culture of intolerance and hate in the mainland India in the name of hyper nationalism, I have decided to resign from Indian Administrative Service,” he said.
“I wish to remind the regime of the day that subversion of public institutions like RBI, CBI and NIA has the potential to decimate the Constitutional edifice of this Country and it needs to be stopped. I wish to reiterate that voices of reason in this country cannot be muzzled for long and the environment of siege will need to end if we wish to usher in true democracy,” he said.
“I am thankful to my family, friends and well-wishers for supporting me in this amazing journey in IAS. One of my important tasks here-after will be train and guide aspiring civil servants to help them in achieving this dream. I will be addressing a press conference on Friday to share my future plans. I will look forward to your support and blessings in this new mission,” Shah said.
Meanwhile, Former chief minister and NC Vice President Omar Abdullah according to KNO correspondent in a tweet welcomed him in the politics.
“The bureaucracy’s loss if politics gain. Welcome to the fold @shahfaesal,” Omar tweeted this afternoon. Sources told KNO that Shah Faesal will likely join NC before Jan 14 and will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on NC’s ticket from north Kashmir constituency.
Moreover, Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also welcomed Shah Faesal's resignation from the top post as a protest against 'unabated killings' of Kashmiris.
“Welcome the stand to resign by @ShahFaesal to protest unabated killing of Kashmiris by GOI. Hope his outrage over killings and his sentiment that #KashmiriLivesMatter guide his choice of politics and gets reflected in representing his people’s collective deep driving desire of right to self-determination and their relentless struggle and sacrifice in achieving it - also the reason behind killings and repression on them by the state,” Mirwaiz tweeted.
