Srinagar, January 15 (KNO) : Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) Tuesday held a silent protest in Srinagar’s Pratap Park here against what it termed the authorities “deceitful approach” in tracing out their beloved ones who are disappeared since 1989 in Kashmir.
The members of the association led by its chairperson, Parveena Ahanger assembled at Srinagar’s Pratap Park under the banner of APDP and demanded whereabouts of their beloved ones.
Notably, the association also unveiled the calendar on the occasion displaying the images and details of those who are missing since decades.
The association members castigated the successive regimes for failing to trace their beloved ones.
The family and relatives of disappeared persons participated in the silent sit-in program to press the government to seek information about their beloved ones, who have vanished, presumed dead or imprisoned without trial or record.
They alleged that their kin have been subjected to enforced disappearances by the forces and their related agencies from their homes, streets and even roads. The association members vowed to continue their struggle for truth, justice and accountability till both the state and central governments accept their demand of impartial probe into the enforced disappearances and custodial killings.
APDP Chairperson said that the main aim of their protest is to make the world community aware of the plight of people of Kashmir, saying that they will continue to fight till the authorities will come up with the details about the whereabouts of their beloved.(KNO)
