Man held with ammunition in Kupwara | KNO

Srinagar, January 18 (KNO) : Kupwara police on Friday claimed to have arrested a person and recovered incriminating material including ammunition from his possession. Police in a statement issued to KNO said that “Kupwara police on a credible input arrested an individual and recovered incriminating materials including ammunition from his possession.” “Police in Kupwara today intercepted an individual identified as Mohd Aslam Beigh, son of Nazir Ahmad Beigh of Maidanpora Lolab, at a naka check point and upon his personal search, seized one grenade, besides other incriminating material,” police spokesman said. He said “the individual has been taken into custody and preliminary investigation suggests that the individual was planning to join a militant outfit, and along with other militants was planning an attack in Kupwara area. Initial investigation revealed that he was motivated to turn to terrorism through social media by entities based in Pakistan.” Police said that a case under FIR number 6/2019 under relevant sections has been registered in Police Station Kupwara in this matter.(KNO)
