Shopian, January 22 (KNO) : Massive clashes erupted in Shopian village and forces had to resort to aerial firing as gunfight raged in the orchards of zainpora belt of the district.
Locals told KNO that massive clashes erupted between protesting youth and forces, trying to disrupt the operation.
Forces resorted to aerial firing and tear gas canister to disperse protesters. “Protesters clashed with forces throwing stones which was retaliated with tear gas and aerial gunshots,”They claimed.
Fresh firing resumed at the orchards were forces and militants are exchanging gunfire, that erupted in Heff Shirmal belt of Zainapora area in South kashmir's Shopian district.
Meanwhile authorities have snapped internet in the district. The Operation is being jointly conducted by 44 RR, CRPF and SOG Zainapora.
Sources told KNO that as search operation was going on, the hiding militants fired upon forces which was retaliated triggering encounter.(KNO)
