Srinagar, January 31 (KNO) : The former chief minister and National Conference (NC) Vice president, Omar Abdullah on Thursday promised abolishing of Public Safety Act in Jammu and Kashmir if the party comes to power. Addressing a gathering in Pulwama’s party headquarters, Omar said that if NC is voted to power in 2019 elections, he will scrap Public Safety Law (PSA) within some days. “I won’t say that I won’t use this law as may be the others would us it. So, I won’t leave a trace of this law if voted to power,” Omar said as per Kashmir News Observer (KNO). The NC Vice president also said that youth will not be arrested under PSA and parents will not be bothered that if their children are booked under this act they will disappear for times inside the jail system. “Governments are for making lives better not to increase the difficulties by the people,” he said, promising that once in Power NC will scrap the law that has been misused to imprison young people behind the bars. Notably, ahead of the forthcoming elections, the NC has promised several things including setting up a Truth and Re-conciliation Commission (TRC) to probe the killings that happened in 2016 and before and regional autonomy to Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir regions if his party comes to power in the state. NC president, Dr Farooq Abdullah had said his party, if elected to power, will set up a Truth and Re-conciliation Commission (TRC) to probe the killings that happened in 2016 and before. “If we come to power with full strength and do not have to walk on crutches we will set up a Truth and Reconciliation Commission about which Omar has already talked about. In another convention, Abdullah had said that “I want to make a promise that God willing if we form the next government, we will bring a resolution to grant autonomy to the three regions (within 30 days).”(KNO)
