23 teams of different Police Forces, CAPFs to participate

Jammu, February 02 (KNO) : The 19th All India Police Band Competition will start from February 5, 2018 at Jammu while as 23 teams of different police forces and Central Armed Police Forces, consisting 1448 members are participating in the competition. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed A.K Choudhary addressed a press conference at PHQ lawns Gulshan Ground here today and said that the competition is being hosted by J&K Police from February 5 to 9, 2018 at Jammu. According to a statement issued to KNO, he said that it is the 19th edition of the competition which is organized annually since 1999 and is participated by State/ union territory police forces and Central Armed Police Forces participate. J&K Police is organizing the competition second time. The competition held in 2002 in Srinagar was also hosted and lifted by J&K Police winning Ist prize in Brass & Pipe bands and was declared overall champion. ADGP said that 23 teams of different police forces and Central Armed Police Forces, consisting 1448 members including 32 females are participating in the competition. He said that the competition will be in different categories of Brass and pipe band/ bugle calls. Brass and pipe band competitions will be held in seated and marching positions. Gulshan Ground will be the main venue. Opening ceremony and closing ceremony will be held at Gulshan Ground venue, said the ADGP. Other competition matches and rehearsals will be held at Science College, University Ground, SDRF and District Police Lines Ground. ADsGP and IsGP of J&K Police are members of organizing committee. Sub committees headed by IsGP will supervise other arrangements like accommodation, transportation, reception, publicity, invitation, Grand Dinner and opening, closing ceremony. Rolling trophies will be awarded to the teams winning first three positions in the competition. There will be an overall champion trophy also.(KNO)
