Kargil, February 09 (KNO) : Anger is brimming in Kargil here against the recent decision of the government to install the headquarters for the newly established Ladakh division of the state. On Saturday, a joint press conference was addressed by Legislative Council Chairman Haji inayat Ali, Congress former MLA Kargil and various political parties of Kargil. They said that declaring Ladakh a separate division had been their long demand as the region was being ignored on various fronts including education, economic and health. "We welcome the decision that Ladakh has been declared the third division of the state of Jammu and Kashmir but government has completely neglected Kargil and has put the headquarters of the division in Leh only," they told the presser, according to KNO correspondent. They further said that installing Div Com Ladakh, IG Ladakh etc at Leh permanently has not been in their demand and they had time and again told the government that the headquarter be based on rotational basis. "This decision not only has hurt people in Kargil but also feel cheated as government while accepting the long pending demand has again neglected the services to the nation Kargil has provided," they said. They said that they demand that government takes a relook at their decision otherwise they will launch an agitation over the step motherly attitude towards Kargil. "We are not against Leh, it’s an equal part of Ladakh but we are here to demand what should have been given to Kargil as an equal part as well," they said. Bhartiya Janata Party on Saturday said that they support the decision taken in the All Party meet held today at Kargil Boys Hostel Jammu. “We would also like to add that the entire BJP Unit Kargil (including the executive members, district prabhari, block level and grassroots level karyakartaas) will not shy away from submitting mass resignation from the party if justice is not meted out to the district,” BJP said in a statement.(KNO)
