Srinagar, February 12 (KNO) : Police on Tuesday flexed muscles on protesting National Health Mission (NHM) employees in Srinagar after they tried to march towards Rajbhavan. NHM employees assembled in Pratap Park to protest what they termed as 'official apathy towards their genuine demands'. They are on protest for few days leading to difficulties in running health care facilities in the valley.
According to KNO correspondent, after the protesting employees started marching towards Governor’s house, i.e Raj Bhavan, police as per eye-witnesses swung into action and baton charged the employees march. "Police had erected barricades on road to thwart the protesting employees march," eye witnesses told KNO.
“Police used pepper gas to disperse the employees who were in hundreds in numbers and were not budging down," they said, adding that clashes between police and employees also erupted on the city center roads. The NHM employees are on a pen down strike for a month. They are demanding regularization in a phased manner, equal pay for equal work and other social security benefits.(KNO)
