Sopore, February 22 (KNO) : One militant were killed in a gunfight at Warpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday late night.
Reports Reaching KNO said that the one unidentified militant were killed in the encounter which broke out in Thursday night after army’s 22 RR, and SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation in Warpora area of Sopore.
Earlier, a joint team of Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF cordoned Warpora locality of Sopore last night and started a search operation.
“Sources told KNO that The hiding Militants Opened fire upon the troops, however the militants managed to escape the initial site of the gunfight, the troops continued the search OPs during which Militants again opened fire, triggering an encounter,”
In the ensuing gunfight, one militant have been killed, sources told KNO. Adding that the anti militancy operation in the area is still on.
Meanwhile administration Sopore issued a statement, “In view of the apprehension of law and order problem, restrictions under sec 144 CRPC are hereby imposed on the gathering of more than 4 persons in entire Sub-division Sopore with effect from evening 21-02-2019 till further orders,”
However authorities has been suspended mobile internet service in entire Sopore as precautionary measures.(KNO)
