Poonch, February 24 (KNO): As the traders and civil society have called for a complete shutdown in view of Article 35- A hearing on Monday, the district administration Poonch on Sunday evening ordered imposition of restrictions in the district on Monday.
Traders and civil society had called for a bandh in Mandi area of Poonch in view of hearing on Article 35-A in Supreme Court.
The decision of shutdown was taken in a meeting held in town in which traders, civil society members, transporters and local leaders took part.
After the meeting, it was announced that a peaceful bandh will be observed on Monday to lodge protest against any attempts to affect Article 35-A.
Meanwhile, district administration Poonch this evening said, restrictions under CrPC 144 have been imposed in Poonch district by the District Magistrate Poonch. An order in this regard has been issued by DM Poonch Rahul Yadav.
It has been ordered that assembly of four or more persons is restricted across Poonch district in next 24 hours while holding of rallies, protests, processions and speeches is also restricted.
Along with this, all the wine shops and bars have also been ordered to remain close across the district.
Administration as per KNO correspondent has further ordered closure of all the government colleges across the district on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch, Rahul Yadav said that restrictions have been imposed merely as a precautionary measure and there is nothing to worry about.
" The restrictions are as a sort of precaution as there is bandh call in Mandi," Deputy Commissioner said. He further added that situation across the district is completely peaceful.(KNO)
