Thousands attend funeral of slain JeM militant

Srinagar, February 25 (KNO) : Police on Monday identified the three militants killed in Sunday’s encounter. In a statement issued to KNO, police spokesman said the three slain militants has been identified as Raqib Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohammad Amin Sheikh of Shiganpora Kulgam and from the incriminating material recovered from the site of encounter, the other two killed have been identified as Waleed and Numan, foreigners from Pakistan. According to the police records, all the three militants were affiliated with JeM. "The two slain Pakistani militants, Waleed and Numan, as per police records were the top commanders of JeM who were active in Southern parts of Kashmir valley. As per the police records, they were involved in conspiring and executing several militants attacks and were wanted by the law for their complicity in a series of crimes including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities,” spokesman said. He said several crime cases were registered against them for their activities. "Arms and ammunition including rifles were recovered from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken in the case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror cases," he said. Meanwhile, police urged people not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. “People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials if any," police said. Meanwhile, thousands of people participated in the funeral prayer of slain JeM militant today. During the funeral, the participants raised slogans in favour of freedom. The slain JeM militant was later laid to rest at his native village.(KNO)
