Tral, March 05 (KNO) : Two militants were killed while a civilian sustained injuries during an encounter that raged between forces and militants in Reshie Mohandas of Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. An official confirmed KNO that two militants were killed and search is on in the area. Police identified the slain militants as Adfar Fayaz Parray @Abu Zarar, son of Fayaz Ahmad Parray of Gulshanpora Tral and Irfan Ahmad Rather @Abu Talib, son of Ghulam Hassan Rather of Shariefabad Tral. A civilian identified as Farooq Ahmad (45) has also received bullet in his thigh during cross fire, police said, adding that he has been rushed to Srinagar for treatment. Earlier, after nine hours of search, forces managed to establish contact with hiding militants. On Monday evening, after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants, forces including 42 RR, 180 Bn CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched search operation in the area. After searching for more than 9 hours and intensifying the search, towards the suspected house the hiding militants opened fire which was retaliated, triggering encounter. Meanwhile, police in a statement issued to KNO said according to their records, the slain militants were affiliated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen. “They (Slain militants) were involved in conspiring and executing several attacks and were wanted by the law for their complicity in a series of attacks on security establishments and civilian atrocities. Several cases were registered against them for their activities,” police said. They added arms and ammunition including rifles were recovered from the site of encounter. “All these materials have been taken in the case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other cases,” police said. Later, police urged people not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. “People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials if any,” police said.(KNO)
