Srinagar, March 06 (KNO) : Students who came back to valley after facing harassment outside valley on Wednesday urged government to facilitate their safe return to colleges to join their classes. Kashmir Student Organization held a meeting at Pratap Park to discuss the problems faced by them. According to KNO correspondent, the representative of the association said that they want to return to their colleges but are facing various difficulties.
Ansar Ahad, a representative of the Association and a student in Dehradun College said that they urge the government to provide security to the students in the respective colleges they are studying. "Colleges are slapping the students who returned to valley with late fee of Rs 5000 per person and also the landlords had announced that they won’t be providing accommodation to valley based students. That should be taken care of,” Ansar said. He said they urge government to look into the matter with urgency as their valuable time is being lost to uncertainty outside valley.
"Students should not be thrashed for reasons they are not part of. People, including college authorities should be counselled to make them understand that they are part of the same society,” he said. According to him various colleges outside had asked valley based students to vacate the hostels and students are demanding that colleges should be asked to not do so.
“We should be able to pursue our studies peacefully as we used to do with our friends there and the atmosphere must not be charged against us," they urged. They appealed Governor Satya Pal Malik to look into the matter personally.(KNO)
