Handwara, March 7 (KNO) : A foreign militant affiliated with JeM outfit was killed in a brief exchange of fire with Army at Badarpayee Handwara of northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday evening. Official sources told KNO that, on tip regarding the movement of militants in the area from Handwara via Thokerpora towards Baderpayee, following which Army’s 32 RR had laid siege in the whole area.
Upon seeing the forces, militant fired upon security personals and hurled a grenade over them causing injury to none, while as in the retaliation of fire one militant was killed in brief exchange of fire, the source said. Police identified the slain militant as, Anwar a resident of Pakistan who was active in north Kashmir for quite some time. While as there were no reports of injury or casualty to any of the civilian or from security forces end, police said.
However, the official sources said that, there is presence of Jaish outfit in northern belt and there are several Pakistani trained militant present in northern Kashmir who are giving arms training to the local militants.
Pertinently, no casualty or injury was caused to anyone including security forces and civilians, in a swift action army killed a militant in Handwara Wednesday late night. Earlier this week, two militants, five security personals and a civilian were killed in an encounter in Handwara and causing injuries to several security personals and civilians during the gunfight.
