BRO dedicates Bein Bridge, Samba to nation | KNO

Jammu, March 08 (KNO) : Ushering in a new revolution in connectivity of roads and bridges in border areas, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (I/C) (PMO & DoNER) alongwith Lt Gen Harpal Singh, Director General Border Roads, dedicated 331 mtr long Bein bridge in Samba district to the nation through e-inauguration from New Delhi. According to a statement issued to KNO, Brig YK Ahuja, Chief Engineer, Project Sampark coordinated the proceedings of e-inauguration from Bein bridge. In his welcome address, he briefed about the technical parameters and constructional technologies used in this bridge. Bein bridge has been constructed at total cost of approx Rs. 21 crores by 69 RCC/ 13 BRTF of Project Sampark. It is completed six months before its scheduled time. This strategically important bridge is located on Parole-Rajpura road near International Border. It will facilitate in smooth connectivity and improve the socio-economic development of nearby border villages in Samba region. Terming construction of Bein Bridge a great achievement by BRO, Dr. Jitendra Singh addressed the gathering through Video Conferencing and said that the roads and bridges are the lifeline of any nation and play vital role in socio-economic development of far flung regions. Praising BRO personnel about their working away from their families in most hostile and difficult areas, he added that the BRO has been rendering commendable services through construction and maintenance of roads and bridges in border areas fulfilling the strategic need of Indian Army also. Reiterating the Central Government’s commitment to the development of connectivity in J&K, he said that our PM is closely monitoring the progress of these projects for boosting connectivity in J&K. He complimented the Project Sampark, BRO employees, engineers, labourers and management for their hard work and commitment thereby achieving the target before time. The event was attended by a huge gathering of Local Dignitaries, Civil administration and public of all age groups from the local villages. The locals were highly enthusiastic and thankful to Govt and BRO for fulfilling their long pending necessity in a befitting manner.(KNO)
