Srinagar, March 12 (KNO) : Reacting on BJP leader Ram Madhav’s statement in an interview with “WION” wherein he said, ‘the other side is not willing to talk and no one responded to Home Minister Rajnath Singh's invitation’, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai Tuesday said Kashmir is not a law and order or a Sadak-bijli-paani problem; it is solely a political problem about aspirations of people. Sehrai in a statement issued to KNO said “New Delhi so far was never serious or sincere to address Kashmir issue in its historical perspective.” “If GoI believes that Kashmir issue can be resolved through its military might, it was grossly mistaken as Kashmir is a purely humanitarian and political issue. Killing Kashmiris on daily basis with impunity exposed Delhi that makes great claims before the world but does not want to resolve the Kashmir dispute,” he said. He said this approach will neither alter the fact of the dispute nor will people of Kashmir give up their demand for its just resolution in accordance with their aspirations. Sherri said the Centre’s entire approach and agenda was always military-driven, and that there is absolutely no political process or thought in terms of dealing with Kashmir. “They are dealing with Kashmir with an iron fist and their military policy is what is guiding BJPs policy on Kashmir,” he said. Furthermore, he added that on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, on which talks and deliberations should be held, but unfortunately there was never any clarity on that other than just to buying time and to deceive international community. “We want to see a political solution to this problem as per the aspirations of Kashmiri people and in this regard nobody in Kashmir is against the dialogue, but the ground situation has to be conducive and there must be a sincere and positive intent first. Every other day there are killings and extreme force is being used,” he added. Sehrai said the resistance leadership primarily believes that Kashmir is a political problem, it is not a problem of good or bad governance. “It is not a territorial dispute; it is not a regional dispute either. It’s an issue about the people who are just demanding their basic and legitimate political rights which had been promised to us,” he added.(KNO)
